And even after working over 50 hours a week, I could still not afford therapy or travel – things that kept me going. I would also not have the energy to spend quality time with family. I felt guilty about that!
There was no success in any of this. I gained weight and developed depression. Life was happening to me but I wasn't living.
I gave my all to my job for years and yet I was struggling. Just the thought of being in it until one day I retire began to scare me.
So I started looking for ways to get time and financial freedom. Where my income and self-worth were not tied to a job. Where I didn’t have to trade most of my time for a paycheck.
As a result, I gave online business a shot.
I did some research and found a completely beginner-friendly program that needed no gimmicks and no previous experience or special skills to get started.
So, I invested in myself, put in the work and finally built an online business that I resonated with.
I came in with the intention to make six or seven figures which is good because it made me take action. But what really matters is the result of when you no longer have to worry about money.
As I now wake up slowly, in a way that heals me. I got back my time, peace and purpose and my old self thanks me for deciding to change my life.

Affiliate marketing is where you promote a company’s products or services and earn a commission for each sale.
It’s performance-based, so you are paid when you successfully promote and sell a product/service.
The affiliate marketing industry is growing more and more every year. A report by Astute Analytica says it could hit over $39 million in revenue by 2031. Meaning there’s endless income potential.
And How Does It Work?
In very simple terms…
- You join an affiliate program of a product or a service of your choice.
- After signing up, you receive a unique affiliate link to promote that also tracks your sales.
- You market that product or service using your unique link through different marketing methods.
- When someone signs up or purchases by clicking on your affiliate link, you earn a percentage of the sale.
What I like most about affiliate marketing is it helps people in a real, honest way by recommending products that add value to their life. You can do this through blog posts, Instagram, YouTube videos, email newsletters, or even a podcast.
The goal is not to post something just for the sake of it. It’s about solving real problems your audience is already looking answers to. This is what builds trust.
Once you’re providing useful information, that’s where your affiliate links come in. You simply weave into your content your unique link to the product or service you’re recommending.
And you want to be honest that your content is affiliate-based to keep that trust. Personally, I only recommend products that I’ve tried and loved. That kind of integrity is essential to building loyalty and you feel good about helping others.
As for commissions, they depend on what you're promoting. Digital products usually offer higher commissions like 30%–50%, while physical ones tend to be around 5%–10%.
Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty…
No need for your own product/service
With other business models, it’s overwhelming to launch something from scratch. Coming up with a product idea to bringing it to life and delivering it takes years along with lots of effort.
But with affiliate marketing, you don’t have to worry about any of that plus no dealing with refunds or product logistics. All you have to do is just recommend products you truly believe in.
Passive Income
One of the reasons why I pursued affiliate marketing was that once you’ve shared your affiliate offer - whether it’s through a blog or email - it keeps generating income passively.
That’s what real freedom in business looks like. You could be out on a vacation or just laying in the couch watching TV and you would still be earning.
And I highly recommend using authority marketing in your content. This strategy allows you to connect with your audience and earn on complete autopilot 24/7. Thereby eliminating the need to chase clients day in and day out.
No Previous Experience Required
Unlike a lot of other programs, affiliate marketing does not demand any previous business experience or tech skills. Especially if you have the right training and support.
Before I did this, I would often look at other online entrepreneurs and wonder if they were all some kind of tech nerds who just knew how to do things.
But I was fortunate to pick up all the necessary skills from scratch in no time with a system that even caters to people who have zero tech skills.
All you need is a few hours a week and you’re good.
You can even do this while working full-time which is what I did because I could not afford to suddenly quit my job to start a business.

You can literally work from anywhere – even from your bedroom!
And it’s not just about the location. It’s about the freedom to choose your hours and environment especially if you feel trapped in a stressful job or toxic workplace.
Before, I used to be stuck in a high-pressure office culture.
Now I can work while sipping coffee in bed or check in on my business while I’m on a road trip.
I can slow down when I need to. I can do things that make me happy without asking for time off.
No need for social media presence
Contrary to the popular belief, you don’t need a social media presence as an affiliate.
If you are not comfortable facing the camera, you can start with a simple blog or even an email list - all of which can be built without showing your face or posting everyday.
Personally, I don’t like posting all day on social media.
Now some may say that affiliate marketing is a competitive place so how do you stand out without social media!
I agree, it is competitive. But understanding and using strategies like Authority Marketing (explained later in this list) make it easier for you to stand out and get ahead of the competition.
It’s not a get-rich-quick deal
It is true that affiliate marketing does not involve the headache of a conventional business model.

At first, I thought I could make sense of everything on my own. I would go down the rabbit hole of digging up stuff online for hours (literally cooking my brain lol!) to piece it all together.
Technically, it was possible. A simple Google search can bring you a list of companies that you can promote products for.
But what I have realized is to make it work that way, you need a big following online which I didn’t have and which nobody tells you.
And I knew I wanted more than just to try it out.
My goal was to build a profitable online business to replace my 9–5 income. I wanted a flexible lifestyle with something I could run from my laptop from anywhere, and that operates on mostly autopilot.
I certainly did not want to waste any more time and money failing.

An affiliate marketer’s success is tied to the company they are an affiliate for.
Most companies have very consistent affiliate programs for years.

Plenty of well-known brands offer affiliate programs.

But those commissions are usually low-ticket (pay little). Meaning you need a lot of sales to replace a full-time income (more time & effort).
